Let the wise listen.

The worst addictions
are not the ones
that prompt sympathy and hugs,
or the ones 
that the church will allow itself
to openly discuss,
or the ones
that can be easily chalked up
to a poor mindset.

The worst addictions
are the ones you won’t quit
because you secretly love,
the ones you won’t let anyone see
because you know 
they would show judgment and disgust,
the ones 
you struggle with in silence.

The worst addictions
are the ones you think
you can get away with
in private. 

But the bill always comes due.
Always.
